Preschool Dropout No MORE!

Recap for those who haven't heard this part:
So this last fall Hannah was gearing up for school and dance lessons. I felt bad for my poor darling son who had nothing to do besides hang out with me all day. He decided he wanted to go to preschool and I was so excited when they had room for him. After two weeks of going to preschool, the poor child just cried when I went to drop him off and wouldn't let me leave. After this episode, my barely three-year-old proudly announced to me, "Mommy, I don't want to go to preschool anymore. I will just go to Kindergarten when I am 5." I tried to talk him into it, but he explained himself so logically and adult-like, I really couldn't argue with him. So Luke and I have teasingly called him our "preschool dropout" since then.

About two months ago, Wesley asked if he could go back to preschool. I knew he would eventually want to go back. I mean, how long can one child stand me - just me, all alone in the house ALL day. I called the preschool and asked them if they had room for him. Of course, they did not. Why would they have an opening in the middle of the school year, or why would they let my darling son back after he had changed his mind in the first place. However, to my complete and utter surprise, about a week ago the preschool left a message that an opening had become available for Monday/Wednesday mornings.

I was so worried that he would change his mind at the last minute and I would have to call the preschool AGAIN and try to explain that he was dropping out - yet again. His first day, Wednesday, rolled around. I got Hannah ready for school and on the bus, waiting for Wesley to say, "I mean, nevermind, I don't want to go to preschool." But those words were not uttered. Instead he asked me about every 10 minutes from 7:30-8:15 if it was time for preschool yet. He held my hand when I dropped him off, he continued to hold my hand as he did his "jobs" (putting his name on the board, washing hands - okay he didn't hold my hand for that part, and going and sitting in the circle). I waited for the "Nevermind", but it never came. Wesley is a preschool dropout, NO MORE!

Way to go Wesley! (And yay for Jenn! You get a couple hours each week to yourself!)

oh how funny! I am glad you don't have a drop-out anymore. I am also jealous of your child free time.
